On Sunday evening at 7.28 pm, the portals of the Badrinath Shrine were closed for the public in its traditional grand way. First, the Mahabhishek was performed on Sunday followed by the placement of Goddess Lakshmi’s idol beside Lord Badrinath by the Rawal (chief priest).
Around 3000 devotees were present at the Badrinath temple when the portals were being closed. As per the ritual, on Monday the Doli (ceremonial procession) of Lord Badrinath will start for its winter abode located in Joshimath.
Approximately 8.80 lakh people had visited the Badrinath Shrine this year, as per
the records were given by the Chief Executive Officer of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
The Badrinath Temple is considered to be a very holy shrine and is a part of the Char Dham Yatra. The other three Dhams of the Char Dham Yatra are Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath.
