Sri Balaji Venkateswara temple at Alwal near Secunderabad is an ancient heritage buillt by Chandulal Bahadur, prime minister of Hyderabad during the reign of Nawab Sikandar Jah, remains unmaintained and neglected due to inadequacy of funds. Revenues earned through donations is not sufficient enough to even meet the salaries of the priests and to perform the daily rituals. The ‘Kalyana Mandapam’, 200 meters away from the main temple, is on the verge to collapse. The original flooring of the temple has vanished too.
The authorities are willing to build various facilities like a marriage hall and a mirror house (addala mandapam) to gain more revenues and income, but that is only possible if the government provides ample remuneration for the works.
