Hampi Heritage Tour takes you on a journey to the glorious past. You will visit the historical monuments of Hampi, Badami, Pattadakal and Aihole.
Hampi – Hampi is a village and temple town recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Karnataka. It was one of the richest and largest cities in the world during its prime. It is located within the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Predating the city of Vijayanagara, Hampi continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple and several other monuments belonging to the old city.
Badami – Badami was the regal capital of the Badami Chalukyas from 540 to 757 AD. It is famous for its sandstone cave temples. They are a complex of four Hindu, Jain and possibly Buddhist cave temples. The Badami cave temples represent some of the earliest known examples of Hindu temples. UNESCO has described the designs of the Badami cave temples, and those in Aihole, as having transformed the Malaprabha River valley into a cradle of temple architecture that defined the components of later Hindu temples elsewhere in India.
Pattadakal – Pattadakal is the historical location where Badami Chalukya kings were crowned. The Chalukyas built many temples here between the 7th and 8th centuries. There are ten temples at Pattadakal, including a Jain sanctuary surrounded by numerous small shrines and plinths in fusion of various Indian architectural styles.
Aihole – Aihoḷe is a village having a historic temple complex in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. It is known for Chalukyan architecture, with about 125 stone temples dating from 5th century CE, and is a popular tourist spot in north Karnataka.
