Buddhist Golden Temple is present near Near Kushalnagar, which is 34kms from Coorg. This Temple is also called Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery. It is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. This monastery is home to a sangha community of over five thousand lamas which has both monks and nuns. There is also a hospital, a school, and a college.

What is the history of this monastery?
The full name of this monastery is Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargyeling. In short, it is called ‘Namdrolling’. Drubwang Padma Norbu Rinpoche, the 11th throne holder of the Palyul lineage established this monastery in 1963.
At first, the initial structure of the temple was constructed from bamboo. It covered an area of 80 square feet approximately.
What is the architecture of Buddhist Golden Temple?
The complex has a 40 feet high gilded images of Guru Padmasambhava, Buddha Sakyamuni and Amitayus. The temple tower is very well decorated. The outer walls facing the doorway are decorated with huge and colorful murals. The walls are decorated with colorful paintings that depict gods and demons from Tibetan Buddhist mythology. This place is surrounded by landscaped gardens which makes it very calm and serene.

Namdroling Monastery hosts several ceremonies every year.
- Losar: It is the Tibetan New Year. It is based on the Lunar Calendar. The festival usually occurs in the months of February or March.
- The monastery also hosts the traditional Lama Dances.
